What's Next?

My first blog was quite short. Life as a College student. Now that I have graduated, I decided to start a blog about Life After College. Blogs will include different topics that are of interest to me such as agriculture, music, sports and anything else that seems important to share. Three and a half weeks ago, I started coaching 7th and 8th grade girls basketball. My experience with coaching includes being the Assistant JV tennis coach at Moscow High last spring and thats really about it. Coaching pre-teen/teen girls has been a struggle, knowing how far to push and keeping their respect and focus. We are about halfway through their season and they started games last Friday. My girls are the B teams, so they are less skilled than those on the A teams. My 8th graders have struggled to win and are 0-2, but they are nevertheless, improving. Lots of my girls have very little if any experience with the game. These girls know who they are and often express that confidence. In a game, they lack that confidence I see everyday in practice. We have one more day of practice tomorrow, then another game Monday. My 7th graders are another story. For their level and age, they have performed tremendously well. They are aggressive go-getters and constantly look to me to show them what they need to know. While this is their first real competative experience, they are continually asking me questions about every aspect they encounter in their games. These girls are 2-0, winning their last game 49-4. They were amazing! So I have a team that has won and a team that has lost, but I love coaching them all the same. All of these girls show me respect and are open to learn. Most of all, I can see how much fun they are having... as a team. They all show great teamwork and togetherness.
